Went to the only open trail system within 100 miles (just made that up), which was Little River. Set the pump basal rate down around 11:20, and was on the bike by 12:26.

Met George from 8 Dot for another 2 hrs or so.

The HiFi worked great on the singletrack. I was very, very amped with how nice it road right out of the box. Got it converted to tubeless, and am running the wheels that where on the Superfly.

Anyway, stayed on a good intake and hydration schedule, and the BG was great except for an over bolus low right at the beginning of the ride.

No basal rate change post ride.

Headed out at 18:35 for a quick 90 minute "shake down" of the HiFi 29er. Trails where soaked, so just some doubletrack and hill work. Really just wanted to make sure that it wasn't making any weird noises and stuff. Have a few days off coming up, and wanted to make sure it was rolling smooth.

Bike rides great, and I can't wait for the time to get it on the trail this week.

Nice to have the bikes 99% squared away for 2009.

It started to rain, so I booked home to get in the barn.

No basal mods before bed.

It seems like we now live in a Rain Forest. Raining every day, and warmer than normal.

K and I dodged between rain showers, and got out for a non-singletrack mountain ride. It was fun riding with her, and I wish we could find time to do it some more.

So I received my HiFi the day before Christmas, and then my long sought after fixed gear frameset came in yesterday. Awesome. Didn't take long to get together, as I had all the other parts.

Since my road bike is gone, and the weather is terrible, I have a feeling I will be putting big road miles in on it soon.

As predicated I got a little behind on the blog the past couple of days. The holidays and work schedule just caught up to me.... Will be back on target starting Dec. 26th. :)

Lowered my basal rate at 11:45, and rolled out of the UNC Wellness Center at 12:45 on my single speed. Its been raining here A TON, so no single track. Did the infamous "wet conditions hill repeat loop sequence". I like it, as it does have some double track dirt, some road, and some pretty technical rocky sections on a double track in a public park.

Did I mention it was 68 degrees too. (I hear Eastman groaning from here). :)

It was fun, but it started to rain (imagine that) so I had to pull the plug early. Hardly took in any carbs or water since I was feeling kinda weird.

I set my basal rate back to normal about 20 minutes out from the Wellness center.

When I got back to the car, I found out that my new Gary Fisher HiFi 29er had been delivered to the Trek reps house. You know I couldn't NOT go over there, so.... here I am trying to stick a boxed HiFi 29er into my Honda Civic. Sorry, no pics... but it must have looked hysterical to anyone who was watching. :) BTW - it fits across the back seat with about 1" to clear on each side. Who would have guessed.

No time to open the box today, but will try tomorrow. I'll get a pic up soon.

Went to Christmas Eve service with the boys, and it really helped me to get 100% into the mood.

Well, all the presents have been "assembled" (match part BB to part D using bolt H and nut ZZ2), and the tree has been trimmed. The boys are AMPED, and I am looking forward with a lot of anticipation to tomorrow!

I want to wish each and every one of you a joyous holiday!! Hopefully Santa will put a Navigator in your stocking! (And if you where bad, a Dexcoal). :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow!! Be safe, and be MERRY!!!

Weather was better just a little cold. Out on the Rig again, but still of the single track. Kids STILL up over night last night, so I was BEAT!!

I missed the Cycling Spoken Here morning ride, but still wanted to get back out sometime as I have class Mon-Wed at work. Hard to sit still and concentrate if I don't get my sweat time in. :)

Stayed on the fueling and hydration schedule pretty well.

Sold the Madone yesterday. Weird how I was sad to see it go. Guy who picked it up is a friend of a close friend, and he was super nice. This frees up some cash to order a new one. Not sure what I am thinking about yet, but will let you know when I figure it out! :)

Going to be a busy week... so I may get a day or two behind on the blog. Still keeping everything in a notebook, so I won't loose anything.

Have a good one!!

Weather is typical NC NUTS!! :)

Jammed out on the Rig at 18:45 from the Wellness Center. Rainy, cold and NASTY. Stayed off the single track, and just road the double-track/road Chapel Hill hill repeat loop.

It was fun, and although I was exhausted (the boys have been sick overnight for a couple nights in a row) I just sucked it up and road.

When I got back home I was pretty happy that I hung in there.

Great day for a LONG ride on the Superfly. Got out at 10:55 after setting my basal rate to the normal 55% reduction about 60 minutes earlier.

Met Travis the Trek rep at the UNC Wellness Center at 10:45 (ish) and rolled out to the local CH North trail system to meet a few other folks. Marcy, Vijay, George, and some folks Vijay met joined us there at 11:15.

Ride was very, very fun with the group of 7 or 8. All but two riders where on 29ers. Freakin Cool!!

Fell WAY behind on hydration, but was pretty up to speed on the carb intake during the ride.

After work, I jumped on the Superfly and headed out from the Wellness Center a little before 19:00. Road some of the local hill route on the way to meet Marcy (best team mate on the planet) at "Area 51".

It was a really fun ride, as Marcy was riding her Superfly for the first time. We where trying to decided on "His and Her" license plates (you know from the cereal box), or Thing 1 and Thing 2 handlebar mojo dolls. :)

Set the pump back down to its normal basal rate on the way back to the car. Was ok on the normal carb intake and hydration schedule.

First ride this week. Weather and other obligations have been thwarting me.

Also, first ride with my new Light & Motion Seca 700 Race light system. Ok, these things are sick. Very, very bright and extremely light.

Had a great ride, but saw NO ONE out on the trail. Not a runner, rider, nothing. Weird. I did see a ton of deer and an owl however.

Looks like Marcy got her Superfly today, and got it built. So, hopefully, tomorrow we can go for a ride together.

Out...

A good way to start the week... Found out today that they DID indeed correct the lap counts and standings for the 6 Hour Heel of A Race. We were confirmed as placing 1st. Nice.

One race on the Superfly, one win. Omen? :) LOL.

Second place team got the big trophies and goodies, but we really don't care. I just wanted that crazy cold lap COUNTED!! :)

Looks like a fun points shootout to follow at the 3rd and final race in that endurance series coming up in early February.

I love Mondays....
